Magnificent Goshawk Catches Rat Then Toys With It 🦅

A goshawk visited the pond at Ash Wood for a dip - it's the first time I've seen one here. Watch it catch a rat, then toy with it and keep watching to get a sense of scale - it's about four times the weight of a sparrowhawk!

GOSHAWK
This is a juvenile female. You can tell by the vertical markings on her breast and the way she flicks up her prey and catches it! This is how they practise their hunting techniques. Female goshawks are a similar size to buzzards and a lot larger than sparrowhawks!
